Visit to UC’s Macmillan Brown Library and Heritage Collections

A number of our Pasifika Studies students visited UC’s Macmillan Brown Library and Heritage Collections | Te Puna Rakahau o Macmillan Brown (MBL).

As part of the partnership with the library, students did research for their National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) assessments while visiting MBL.

The students worked on a variety of self-selected topics relating to the Pacific, many of which are connected to their own Pacific heritage.

One of the goals of the course is to facilitate, support and develop students’ bilingualism and biliteracy, so they have the option to deliver presentations in their Pasifika language (or their community language such as Tagalog, as the course includes non-Pasifika students) or in English.

The visits help the students feel comfortable in a university setting and engage them in research activities.
