University Entrance Requirements

A person shall be qualified for entrance to a university in New Zealand if he/she has obtained:

A minimum of 42 credits at Level 3 or higher on the National Qualifications Framework.

A minimum of 8 credits at Level 2 or higher in English or Te Reo Maori; 4 credits must be in Reading and 4 credits must be in Writing.

A minimum of 14 credits at Level 1 or higher in Mathematics on the National Qualifications Framework.

Multi-level study is possible. You may study subjects at different levels in the one year, eg 3 Yr 12 (NCEA Level 2) and 2 Yr 11 (NCEA Level 1) courses.

It is your responsibility to ensure you read and understand the assessment requirements for your subjects.

Not all courses will necessarily operate in any one year. The number of students selecting the various courses will determine the courses to be run each year.

We do our best to provide a wide range of subject combinations in the timetable, but some are not possible. Subjects will be grouped to satisfy the wishes of the majority.

All subjects at each of Level 1, 2 & 3 have some internal and some external assessment. At least 50% of the assessment must be external.
