Accommodation

Riccarton High School arranges homestay accommodation for our international students. Many of our homestays are within walking distance of the school and for those a little further away, the school is on a main bus route, so transport to and from school is easy, safe, and convenient.

Students are matched with a suitable household based on their preferences and personality traits outlined in the enrolment document.

The school has a policy of not placing students together who speak the same first language, and we do not place students of the opposite gender and similar ages together. 

All students are required to live in a homestay regardless of age unless they live with a parent. Homestay hosts are vetted by the New Zealand Police and homes are checked to make sure they conform with the requirements set out in the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.

Host families work with the school in the care of our international students. They will provide all your meals, and a warm and comfortable bedroom and encourage you in your studies and your life in Christchurch. You will be included in the lives of your host family and be a part of everything they do.
