At RHS Careers our aim is to act as the vital link that empowers akonga to confidently navigate their career journey with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to thrive in a changing world.
We develop and implement culturally responsive and inclusive careers programmes and practices that are co-designed with our diverse akonga, whanau, staff, and stakeholders. Akonga will be equipped with knowledge to confidently explore and pursue realistic career pathways that align with their individual aspirations.

Gateway
Gateway is an exciting programme offering students in Years 12-13 an opportunity to experience workplaces first hand while engaging in structured workplace learning, relevant to the needs of the student, Generally any Gateway training will lead onto higher-level qualifications like apprenticeships or diplomas, within the industry. While on Gateway a student will spend a day a week on a work placement as well as be working towards unit standards from the National Qualification Framework (NZQA).

STP
Secondary Tertiary Partnership (STP)
This course is to support students enrolled in a Secondary Tertiary Partnership (STP) – a two day a week course with Ara Institute of Canterbury, Southern Institute of Technology, Vision College, or the National Trades Academy (NTA). It is a one-year programme combined with school; 3 days at school, and 2 days at the tertiary provider. All courses offer either Level 2 or Level 3 credits.

The in school component is based around three key themes:
- The Global Workplace, cultural responsiveness, interpersonal skills and team work.
- Financial Literacy, tax, insurance, renting/flatting, banking, credit options and budgeting.
- Successful Employment, admin, interviews, conflict resolution and confidence.
