Essential information!

A reminder for our Parents and Caregivers on what the move to ORANGE means for Riccarton High School.

At ORANGE, the Secretary of Education has left it up to individual schools to decide whether students are still required to wear face masks indoors (with exceptions such as during physical exercise). Public health advice is that masks continue to be strongly encouraged while indoors. Wearing a mask is a key health measure that helps slow the spread of COVID-19 while worn in indoor settings. For that reason, everyone at Riccarton High School will still be required to wear a mask while indoors, unless they have an exemption.

We also require visitors to the school, including parents and whānau, to wear a mask.
This measure applies from Thursday the 14th of April 2022 and will be reviewed on Tuesday the 31st of May 2022, or earlier if the Ministry of Education announces a change.

Please also note that at ORANGE, students aged 12 years and above are still required to wear a face mask on both school and public transport.

We will continue to keep all the other health measures in place at school that we know slow the spread of COVID-19. These include ensuring our indoor spaces are well-ventilated, maintaining good hand hygiene and cough and sneeze etiquette, appropriate physical distancing whenever we can and, most importantly, staying home if we are sick.
