Hockey 

We currently have two girls teams and one boys team at RHS with both the boys and girls First XI’s travelling to Dunedin to play at the South Island Div 2 Championships in 2020. 

Both the girls and the boys teams play on Monday afternoons either at 4pm or 5pm at Nunweek park. Sometimes teams will travel to Rangiora to the Waimakariri turf for a 4:30pm game. There is a school van booked for each team to take up to 10 students to the turf for games.

Training’s are currently on a Thursday after school at Nga Puna Wai turf. 

Costs

Turf fees for the season = $100

Sport fee = $56

Tournament (if named/entered) = $200-600

Optional: training thermals, warm up tops $20-40

Equipment

Students need stick, shinpads, mouth guard, socks – socks can be purchased from the office for $10

Tournaments

The girls team usually enter in the South Island Tournament Jenny McDonald Cup and thus travel via vans to the location. Hire of vans, umpire bond, food, petrol, accommodation and entry fee go into the costings for tournament.

Fundraising is encouraged – as a team or individuals. Additional socks needed: red.

A high level of fitness and well-being is expected for our students on tournament. They are expected to be completing regular fitness training’s in the weeks prior to tournament, these are often in groups after school or on a Saturday. Students are expected to have a 3+ average on their fortnightly reports and take school work that they will be missing away with them. A week planner is encouraged for students to fill out with their teachers prior to Week 7.
