What we offer

Our curriculum enables specialisation at senior level and provides excellent access to information technology enhanced learning. This is complemented by a comprehensive careers advice programme, and university pathway opportunities.

At senior level, students work towards NCEA (National Certificates of Educational Achievement). This can be completed in one to three years depending on students’ age and educational experience in their home country and English language ability.

Our English language department is the largest in Christchurch and can cater for beginner’s right through to advanced university preparation programmes. Riccarton High School does not require a minimum English level – any student can enrol.

In addition to academic subjects, Riccarton High School offers a full range of co-curricular activities. A huge range of music, drama and sporting opportunities are available, including a Ski and Snowboard club which runs ski trips in the Canterbury region once a week during winter. Be sure to ask us about your co-curricular interests and we will do our best to organise access to this.

Students coming to us for study/tourism purposes, and for those not sitting NCEA exams, Riccarton High School’s international department provides a fantastic activity programme twice a year which is free of charge for our students. Activities include; beach trips, city tours, adventure sports, Hanmer Springs resort, farm shows, surfing and a four-day tour of the South Island in term four.
