Riccarton High School is excited to announce the return of our Peerswick Scholarships for 2027.
Riccarton High School is proud of its strong tradition of recognising excellence across academic achievement, sport, the arts, culture, and service to the community.
In 2027, we are pleased to offer scholarships in Sport, Arts & Culture, and Service to the Community for Year 8 students intending to enrol at Riccarton High School as Year 9 students.

General Eligibility Criteria (applies to all three scholarships)
Applicants must:
Be currently enrolled in Year 8 and intending to start Year 9 at Riccarton High School in 2027
Demonstrate a strong academic record, including:

Consistent effort and achievement across core learning areas

Positive learning behaviours and attendance

A school report or endorsement from their current teacher

Uphold values aligned with the Riccarton Way: Respect, Honesty, Commitment, and Excellence.

Provide a short personal statement (250–300 words) outlining their strengths, interests, and aspirations for high school.

Supply one reference from a teacher, coach, cultural leader, or community mentor.
Peerswick Scholarship for Sport
One scholarship valued at $1,000.
Awarded to a student who demonstrates excellence, commitment, and leadership in sport.
Applicants should show:

Strong participation in school or club sport

Evidence of achievement (e.g., representative teams, awards, leadership roles, or notable improvement)

A commitment to fair play, teamwork, and personal growth

A willingness to contribute to Riccarton High School’s sporting culture
Peerswick Scholarship for Arts & Culture
One scholarship valued at $1,000.
Awarded to a student who shows creativity, passion, and contribution in the arts or cultural activities.
Applicants should show:

Active involvement in one or more areas such as music, drama, dance, visual arts, kapa haka, Pasifika performance, or cultural leadership

Evidence of achievement, participation, or creative output

A commitment to celebrating cultural identity and contributing to the cultural life of Riccarton High School

A willingness to participate in school arts and cultural events
Peerswick Scholarship for Service to the Community
One scholarship valued at $1,000.
Awarded to a student who demonstrates leadership, empathy, and a commitment to serving others.
Applicants should show:

Involvement in community service, volunteering, environmental action, mentoring, or leadership roles

A clear pattern of contributing positively to others or their community

Evidence of initiative, responsibility, and integrity

A desire to continue serving and leading within the Riccarton High School community

Selection Process

A panel of Riccarton High School staff will review all applications.

Shortlisted applicants may be invited for a brief interview or conversation.

Recipients will be notified in Term 4 and acknowledged at the Riccarton High School Prizegiving or a dedicated welcome event.
