Tēnā koutou,
At our meeting last evening, the Riccarton High School Board of Trustees unanimously resolved to reaffirm our ongoing commitment to the principles and partnership embodied in the Treaty of Waitangi.
Despite the recent announcement by the Government, we remain steadfast in recognising the Treaty as a foundational document of Aotearoa New Zealand and as central to our responsibilities as a school community. This reaffirmation reflects our dedication to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi in our governance, our teaching and learning, and our relationships with students, staff, whānau, and the wider community.
Our commitment means:
- Respecting partnership: working alongside Māori whānau and iwi in decision-making.
- Upholding participation: ensuring equitable opportunities for all learners.
- Protecting taonga: valuing and promoting te reo Māori, tikanga, and Māori culture within our school.
We believe this decision strengthens our vision of Riccarton High School as a place where diversity is celebrated, equity is pursued, and all voices are heard.
Ngā mihi nui,
The Riccarton High School Board of Trustees
