Teacher of ORS Students

Fixed-Term, part-time.

We are a small Special Education Department (Kohanga Ako) with 17 ORS students within Riccarton High School, a coeducational, multicultural, secondary school with a reputation for high student achievement and strong community spirit.

We require an enthusiastic teacher with experience in teaching students with diverse needs and who have a range of disabilities including intellectual, autism, physical and visual.

This role is fixed-term, part-time, commencing 28th of January and is not suitable for a beginning teacher.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be able to build connections with severely autistic students. This is a must
  • Need to be able to work in a flexible, shared and close team environment
  • Be prepared to plan and supervise a range of EOTC activities including sport, cultural, gardening etc.
  • Have a full driver’s licence. This too is a must.

Visits to see how Kohanga Ako operates are welcomed.
