Job Description – Homestay Coordinator
Riccarton High School is seeking a self-motivated and highly organised staff member to join our international department.

This is a permanent, year-round position, working 30 hours per week, predominantly during school hours, but some of these hours will be flexible and involve after-hours communication with host families when required, as well as occasional weekend and evening duties including homestay visits and airport pick-ups.

Duties will involve:
o Placement of international students in an appropriate homestay
o Recruiting, training, inspecting and monitoring of host families
o Regular communication with students, host families, students’ families, and agents
o Scheduling pick-ups, placements, and payments
o Pastoral care of students – in conjunction with the International Student Director
o Record keeping, documentation and other administration tasks
o Facilitating conflict resolution meetings – in conjunction with the International Student Director
o Being part of the 24-hour emergency contact system
o Managing visa renewal and insurance claims
o Participating in student events and activity weeks

The ideal candidate will have:
o Good interpersonal skills and a pleasant, empathetic and approachable manner
o Cross cultural skills and competency
o Ability to adapt, and react calmly to unforeseen situations as they arise
o Ability to mediate effectively when issues arise
o Strong IT skills – it would be an advantage to have knowledge of KAMAR, e-School and the Google/Microsoft suites
o Ability to relate to teenagers and their families
o Excellent communication skills
o Highly organised with good attention to detail
o Clean driver’s licence and have a car
o The flexibility to cover after hours emergencies and situations as the needs arise.

Remuneration will be $54,490 per annum for 30 hours per week (grade 4, step 12 of the Support
Staff in Schools Collective Agreement).
